one more midnight loving
she tried to rediscover him
but he left her torn
took him driving slow down a backroad
just to see how far their love would go
until she was torn
now the windows stay closed
and it's safe here inside of this hole
if her heart isn't loving then what the hell is she living for
god must have an angel that's waiting outside of her door
to come take her home.

Blog about the piece:
Today's canvas is part of a three-part series. This lyrical story is about a most AMAZING woman that made it through one of the hardest break-ups of her life. She struggled to find happiness and freedom when really all she needed was to find herself. Sometimes we lose that in a relationship -- we lose ourselves. We melt or blend into the other person, we forget to tend to our own passions and needs; we simply become the relationship. It's so important to be life-giving in a relationship, but not to give up your life. Allow the experience to change you, allow the lessons to help you grow, but don't forget the foundation of your being. Don't forget you -- the wonderful, fantastic, beautiful you that began the relationship in the first place. I mean when all else fails that's who you're stuck with in the end.
