365 days of aRt. DAY ONE HUNDRED & SEVENTY-TWO.

a leaf falls to me gently and it seems
there's nothing there but the leaf
until deeply i apply to my own life
the lessons it sends to me
the leaf becomes more than a muse
but a glimpse to the eternal core
i see this truth and then i choose
to hold it as a leaf once more

Often times it is in the simplicity of the natural world that we see the grandeur of God’s creation. On a purely scientific level it is understood that all of creation is a complex collection of particles vibrating and smashing into and through one another, that the quantum world is complex and seemingly defies reality. We can read books and essays that detail this complexity and explain it to us. Until we experience the reality of our oneness with all of creation, they are just words. Until we can look at the water falling from the rocks and feel that vibration or see the flock of bird’s flight as a dance or hear the sounds of the crickets as God's symphony, we are left with the text of a scholar. That deep knowing doesn’t need to be explained to the experiencer. It’s that deep knowing that has transformed the mundane into the profound, has turned a sinner into a saint, and has made a leaf a reflection of the divine.
