365 days of aRt. DAY TWENTY-NINE.

the melody moves you
it's musical voodoo
influencing who you become

I can remember the first party I ever went to -- it was at the Chop Shop in Detroit. It was cold outside and we hustled to get in the doors. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. There were people everywhere -- dressed in bright colors, with bracelets layered up to their elbows! There was a limo inside (oddly enough), and the DJ was rockin' it from the top. The floors were dirty. The walls were dirty. The ceiling was dirty -- but no one seemed to care. EVERYONE was dancing! They were in love. It wasn't the kind of dancing that's been taken over by the clubs -- the dancing you do for others (showing off your moves and such). This was the kind of dancing you do for yourself. As if the music hits you so hard it transforms you into a dancing machine. I remember being so engulfed in the moment; I couldn't stop smiling. And, I remember it just happened to be the night I got the name 'Glow Stick Ninja'. :) That one night of freedom inspired many more. It allowed me to dance and move and BE in a way I hadn't previously experienced. There are times we feel we're stuck -- like where we are and what we're doing is all that exists. But there is SO much more. Don't be afraid to venture out, to try new things, or even take a new route to work. Don't get caught up in habit. Live like today is new, and different. It will surely, influence who you choose to become. When was the last time you ventured out of your own box?!
