365 days of aRt. DAY ONE HUNDRED & EIGHT.

the smile is a muscle
it comes back

Blog about the piece:
It is so important to exercise, to move that body and oxygenate those cells. Most of us have somewhat of a program set aside to do just that. We want to ward off sickness, fatigue, and depression. But what about the smile muscles? Do you exercise those? Are you smiling right now? Well if you're not then you should be. Dr. Madan Kataria, who started an exercise called LAUGHTER YOGA, based his concept around the scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits. And what are these benefits, you ask? According to LAUGHTER YOGA INTERNATIONAL, laughter is said to: lower the level of stress hormones (epinephrine, cortisol, etc) in the blood; it fosters a positive and hopeful attitude; and, it is less likely for a person to succumb to stress and feelings of depression and helplessness, if one is able to laugh away the troubles. So smile and laugh, and laugh and smile. Oh and by the way -- what do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino? el-if-i-no. Bahahahahaha!!! http://www.laughteryoga.org/
