365 dAys of aRt. DAY NINE.

information overload
and there's more everyday.
how can we see clear with falsity in our face?
things that will break, sounds that won't stay,
cement in the center of spiritual space.
and the dreams that keep us reaching
seem to only expand
our desire and lust,
our distrust in the land.
and we stand not to love but to conquer a life
filled with transient objects that come with a price.
we observe what is out there, and not what's inside,
and we obscure and defy our most obvious guide:
the self that's within, the truth and the view,
divinity waking and speaking to you.

I read in a book last night, "children on average can recognize over 1,000 corporate logos but only a handful of plants and animals native to their places.."(Children and Nature, XVI). How about you? It seems like today we have a more stable relationship with the actors on TV then with our own neighbors. And material objects, they clutter our lives. What would our great-grandparents think? They had to ration and reuse, and were probably the best recyclers. I can say that I have at least 10-15 shirts I haven't worn in over a year, shoes that probably don't even fit anymore and canned food that, well, let's not even go there (I probably bought them for Y2K). The point is that we often have an abundance of things that we don't even realize; things that litter our path, whether they be spiritual, physical, or mental. Think about how many times you have taken a vacation or even moved across town and you survived with the things from one box or one bag. If we can do that then what's all this other stuff for? Get rid of it! If it's an idea that's been taking over your mind or even a smile that's fighting to get out -- SHARE IT! If it's stuff around the house -- DONATE IT! If it's emotional clutter -- LET IT GO! Open up to the possibility that all we need is already available. What did you give away today? What corporate logo did you replace with recognizable images of echinacea and lavender? To whom did you befriend?
