take the heartbreak
and lonely nights
take the hand shakes
and the silly fights
just take them all
take them all back
when you go away
take your apologies
and the written notes
take the sorry's
and your favorite coat
just take them all
take them all back
'cuz you cannot stay

Blog about the piece:
I've had my share of breakups and have given many nights to reflection and tears because of it. And though today's posting is a reflection of that, it's not what this writing brings to mind, in fact it's just the opposite. It makes me realize what a strong and wonderful love I have right now in my life. I am so blessed to be with the man that I love; I am so blessed to be IN love. Just for grins, I googled "how do you know you're in love." Yes. Googled it. And I had to smile at the answers listed, particularly the one that stated "You don't. Love doesn't exist in the ridiculous way that is broadcast on TV and in books. It just happens and it's not something that you can identify or label." We all have our way of knowing when a person comes into our lives and compliments our own happiness in just the right way. And even those who have shared a different sort of love with us, have touched and changed us forever. When I think of these people, I send them love and wishes for the same joy I experience daily. Don't think that my relationship doesn't come with it's share of heartbreak and silly fights, because it does. But that's just it, it's all just a silly fight and well... in the end we love no less than before. We smile and realize our imperfections are part of the process, part of the understanding that there is always stuff to work on (especially when it comes to ourselves). Keep loving and smiling and sharing the happiness. As Buddha says, “Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
